Joseph S. McVicker

Joe is a partner in Taft’s Real Estate practice group. He routinely counsels developers, owners, sponsors, investors, landlords, tenants, and lenders in all aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, property management, leasing, development services, joint venture formations, and various financing arrangements.

In addition to his real estate practice, Joe also frequently advises clients on general corporate and business law, including entity selection and formation, the drafting and negotiation of governing organizational documents, and overall capital structure considerations. Joe has specialized knowledge in documenting and negotiating joint venture agreements, both in favor of sponsors and investors, and with respect to both common equity and preferred equity arrangements.

Joe is also a certified public accountant. Prior to joining Taft, he was a partner at a national law firm, where he practiced real estate law.

• Representation of automotive parts manufacturer in the purchase and sale of manufacturing and warehouse facilities in Kentucky and Alabama totaling more than $15,000,000 in value.
• Representation of local logistics company in the acquisition and financing of its 120,000-square foot corporate headquarters using multiple levels of conventional financing and economic incentives.
• Multiple representations of owners of commercial and multifamily properties in structuring, documenting and closing private equity offerings and negotiating joint venture agreements in excess of over $500 million in capital commitments.
• Representation of the purchaser of a mortgage loan servicing portfolio from a national banking association.
• Representation of a regional mortgage broker in the sale and merger of its business with one of the largest commercial real estate mortgage banking firms in the U.S.
• Representation of borrowers and lenders in numerous financing projects related to the acquisition, construction and development of office, manufacturing and multifamily projects.
