Thomas P. Cassidy

Tom is experienced in litigation and financial services, having started his career at the Office of Thrift Supervision working on regulatory enforcement actions. What distinguishes Tom’s background is his time at the Federal Judicial Center and Capitol Hill under Speaker O’Neill. During his work on financial fraud matters, he collaborated with the Justice Department, Federal Reserve Bank, FinCEN, FDIC, SEC and state law enforcement agencies. Tom then handled criminal matters under the Criminal Justice Act, representing clients in District of Columbia courts. His background allows him to assess when prosecutions are driven by politics or actual statutory violations.

Tom’s practice focuses on legal issues at the intersection of government, finance and business. His clients include traditional banking institutions, public-private partnerships and other financial lenders. He assists clients with Treasury, State Department and FinCEN issues, and has been working with clients in the developing blockchain community through a blockchain accelerator. Tom also handles maritime matters, including vessel arrests through maritime liens and Jones Act compliance for offshore wind projects.
