Summary

Peyton is an associate in Taft’s Phoenix office and focuses her practice on all aspects of commercial litigation. Peyton’s diverse legal background spans employment law, business law, administrative law, and criminal law and procedure, equipping her to navigate a broad range of legal frameworks. She is licensed to practice in both Arizona and California.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Peyton clerked for the Hon. Susan R. Bolton, U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.

Peyton earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Law, graduating with certificates in Public Interest Law and Race and the Law. She worked as a summer intern at Philips Black, a non-profit public interest law firm focused on capital defense and juvenile life without parole cases. During her 2L summer, Peyton worked at the Bronx Defenders in the Criminal Defense practice group.

While in law school, Peyton interned with the National Native American Court Judges Association, working on the implementation of holistic defense pilot programs in three tribal nations. She also interned with Disability Rights California, working primarily on Olmstead negotiations to secure access to mental health resources in Alameda County. Peyton gained hands-on experience drafting legislation, building community legislative coalitions, and engaging with state legislators as part of the Policy Advocacy Clinic, where she contributed to the national Debt-Free Justice campaign.

Peyton’s graduate experience was unique in that she pursued a dual J.D./Ph.D. degree at Berkeley Law. Peyton completed her Ph.D. in jurisprudence and social policy, where her research focused on expert witnesses.

Before graduate school, Peyton earned a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from the University of California, Berkeley.
