Meagan Sunn
Summary
Meagan is vice president of government affairs in Taft’s Public Affairs Strategies Group. She advises clients across the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) and digital infrastructure sectors, helping them navigate the legal, regulatory, and public policy issues shaping the digital economy. Drawing on experience in Congress, federal telecommunications policy, and private practice, Meagan develops integrated government affairs and regulatory strategies that support infrastructure deployment, market expansion, and long-term business growth.
Her practice includes advising corporations, infrastructure developers, municipalities, utilities, nonprofit organizations, and trade associations on broadband deployment, wireless infrastructure, data centers, spectrum policy, smart city initiatives, connected venues, media rights, public-private partnerships, infrastructure permitting, federal funding, and economic development. She regularly represents clients before Congress and federal agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and the Department of Commerce, helping clients develop, deploy, and protect critical communications and digital infrastructure while navigating complex legislative, regulatory, and public policy frameworks.
Before joining Taft, Meagan served as technology, telecommunications, and judiciary counsel to U.S. Senator Gary C. Peters, where she helped advance legislation expanding federal rip-and-replace funding for trusted communications networks. She also supported the nomination and confirmation of Michigan’s first Black female U.S. Attorney and the confirmation of the state’s first federal judge of South Asian descent. Earlier in her career, Meagan advised the U.S. House Committee on Small Business Majority on broadband and technology policy, worked at the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), which the FCC designates to administer nearly $10 billion annually in funding that connects rural and low-income homes to broadband. She also served as senior director at a technology-focused government affairs firm, leading public policy initiatives for clients across the Big Tech, telecom, media, and labor sectors. Her experience also includes service with the FCC’s Office of Commissioner Mignon Clyburn and the Wireline Competition Bureau, as well as work with Comcast NBCUniversal, CTIA, VMware, and civil rights organizations, including the Florida State Conference NAACP.
