Summary

Max is based in Taft’s Detroit office where he maintains a general corporate practice with a focus on buy- and sell-side mergers and acquisitions. He advises private equity firms, family offices, independent sponsors, strategic buyers, and individuals at every stage of M&A transactions, from planning and diligence through negotiation, documentation, and closing.

Max also counsels businesses of all sizes on a broad range of general corporate matters, including commercial contracting and leasing, governance, entity formation, business planning, financing, divestitures, and other legal needs that arise in day-to-day operations. Clients and deal teams appreciate his responsiveness, attention to detail, and efficient approach to complex transactional matters.

Before joining Taft, Max earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, where he was a four-year letter winner on the varsity hockey team. During law school, he served as an Associate Editor of the Wayne Law Review and served as a summer law clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means in Washington, D.C.
