Matthew Mahoney

Matthew represents clients in complex civil litigation matters in state and federal courts. His experience includes various stages of pretrial litigation, such as fact investigation, discovery, and trial preparation. Matthew has also represented clients in criminal investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, defending against allegations of fraud and other wrongdoing.

Prior to joining Taft, Matthew served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Bridget Meehan Brennan, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio and gained valuable experience as a litigation associate at Jones Day. He also worked as a law clerk in the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office Major Trial Unit and as a judicial extern in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Matthew graduated with his J.D., summa cum laude, as class valedictorian from Cleveland State University College of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in political science and history from Cleveland State University. While in law school, Matthew served as Chief Publications Editor for the Cleveland State Law Review and, as a member of moot court, received the Chicago Bar Association Moot Court Competition Best Oral Advocate Award.
