Luc is partner in Taft’s Chicago office and advises domestic and international companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and complex commercial matters. He also serves as outside general counsel to numerous foreign-owned businesses operating in the United States, helping them navigate both strategic transactions and day-to-day legal challenges.

Luc’s practice focuses on cross-border transactions and the representation of international companies expanding into, operating within, or acquiring businesses in the United States. Having advised clients on transactions and business operations across five continents, he combines extensive legal experience with a practical understanding of the cultural, commercial and regulatory challenges that arise in international business.

Over the course of his career, Luc has advised on more than 100 transactions ranging from middle-market acquisitions and divestitures to complex cross-border joint ventures and strategic partnerships. While he represents clients across a wide variety of industries, including food and agriculture, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, education, transportation and logistics, his practice is industry-agnostic. Clients engage him not because of a narrow sector focus, but because of his ability to manage sophisticated transactions, coordinate large legal teams with multiple law firms around the world, and guide deals from inception to successful closing.

Luc frequently acts as the primary U.S. legal advisor for foreign companies and investors. He works closely with business owners, executives and boards of directors to develop practical solutions aligned with their broader commercial objectives. Luc’s experience extends beyond business transactions to commercial contracting, corporate governance, employment matters, disputes and other issues that arise throughout a company’s life cycle.

A dual citizen of France and the United States, Luc is fluent in French, English and Spanish. Having lived and worked in multiple countries, he brings a global perspective and cultural fluency that help bridge differences among parties, facilitate negotiations and drive transactions to completion. Clients value his ability to serve as both legal advisor and trusted business partner, leveraging Taft’s deep bench of specialists across numerous practice areas to address virtually any challenge that arises in connection with a transaction or ongoing business operations.
