Summary

Keanen is an associate in Taft’s Chicago office and advises clients in a number of areas, particularly relating to aviation law and related tax and corporate matters. He offers clients insight regarding tax considerations attendant to aircraft transactions, such as federal excise tax planning, state sales and use tax planning, and depreciation planning.

Prior to joining the firm, Keanen worked at a well-known regional firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he assisted clients with business aviation law. He has experience with structuring aviation transactions, including domestic and foreign-based aircraft purchases and sales. He has prepared aircraft leases, joint ownership agreements, and a range of additional documentation in support of owning and operating private aircraft. Keanen also represents real estate owners and developers in various types of transactions including acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, and development projects ranging from mixed use and multi-family properties, to commercial warehousing.

Keanen earned his J.D. from the University of Indiana Maurer School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Michigan State University.
