Summary
As a partner in Taft’s Compliance, Investigations, and White Collar Defense practice group, Katie represents individuals and entities who are being prosecuted in state and federal courts, as well as individuals and entities who are involved with government and regulatory investigations. Katie has experience handling a wide range of cases, including health care fraud, complex narcotics cases, money laundering, and offenses involving the use of cryptocurrency and the dark web.
She has represented clients in various courtroom settings, including jury trials in state and federal courts. Katie has also argued matters before appellate courts and represented individuals in motion hearings. Her experience with every phase of litigation, from discovery and motions practice to trials and appeals, enables her to effectively represent clients in all stages of a case. She routinely defends clients in responding to subpoenas and in criminal matters involving agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ohio Auditor’s Office, Ohio Ethics Commission, and Inspector General Offices.
Katie understands that mental health and substance abuse issues can be contributing factors to the circumstances that bring about criminal proceedings. Addressing these issues is often part of Katie’s representation of clients. She has experience identifying these issues and connecting clients with appropriate mental health and substance abuse resources.
Katie has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Star (2017 - 2023) for Criminal Defense: White-Collar Law and as an Ohio Best Lawyers Ones to Watch (2021-2023) for Criminal Defense: General Practice and Criminal Defense: White-Collar.
Outside of practicing law, Katie enjoys spending time at the stable with her horse.
