John D. Green

John is a senior associate in Taft’s Real Estate practice group. He represents commercial real estate developers, owners, and investors in a variety of commercial transactions, including development, value add acquisition and disposition, joint ventures and financings for multifamily, retail, industrial and office properties. He also has extensive experience in both landlord and tenant-side leasing, borrower and lender representation in financing transactions, property management agreement negotiations and many other aspects of commercial real estate. His clients range from small local businesses to Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to attending law school, John attended West Point and served as an Infantry officer in the U.S. Army for six years. During that time, he obtained the rank of Captain, leading teams in diverse and challenging environments, including service in Arlington National Cemetery and deployment to Iraq.

• Represented a real estate investment firm with its acquisition and sale-leaseback of a truck storage lot in Sarasota, Florida.
• Counsel to industrial developers to close the acquisition, sale or sale-leaseback of projects valued at over $95M in 2024.
• Represented both large and small landlords and tenants, in over 50 retail and/or office lease negotiations in 2023 – 2024.
• Counsel to owners and management companies in negotiation of over 60 property management agreements in 2023 – 2024.
• Represented borrowers in commercial real estate loan transactions totaling over $200M from 2022 – 2024.
• Represented multifamily firms in ground-up development and value-add acquisitions totaling over $300M from 2022 – 2023.
