Summary

Jennifer represents employers in federal and state courts and advises on a wide range of employment matters, including wrongful discharge, discrimination, claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage and hour disputes, employment agreements, and workers’ compensation. She also advises public and private employers on labor matters, providing strategic guidance on grievances, arbitrations, collective bargaining, and unfair labor practice charges. Her litigation experience informs a practical, risk-based approach to counseling, allowing her to help clients resolve issues efficiently while positioning them for success if disputes arise.

Drawing on her prior experience as an in-house human resources manager and public-sector attorney, Jennifer has extensive, hands-on experience with day-to-day employment issues, including recruiting, performance management, discipline, benefits, collective bargaining, and policy compliance. She also has significant experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment agreements for healthcare professionals, including physicians and advanced practice providers. Her work in this area includes advising on compensation structures, restrictive covenants such as non-compete and non-solicitation provisions, call coverage obligations, productivity incentives, and termination provisions. She regularly helps clients assess enforceability and risk, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and align agreements with operational and business objectives.

Jennifer has specialized expertise in website accessibility compliance and internet-related legal matters, and she regularly advises clients on responding to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) demand letters and lawsuits alleging digital accessibility violations.

Before joining Taft, Jennifer practiced as both a public-sector attorney and a private employment attorney in Dayton, Ohio. She has successfully litigated employment and business disputes and has worked with law enforcement on government investigations. Her background also includes more than 15 years of experience with municipal governments, including service as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Montgomery County and as a special prosecutor for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

In 2023, Jennifer was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine to the State Medical Board of Ohio, where she serves a term running through July 31, 2028, supporting the Board’s mission to protect and enhance public health and safety through effective medical regulation.
