Christie brings over 25 years of in-house and private practice experience to her clients, providing the insight needed to manage a successful hospitality company and thrive as a leader in the industry. A practical, business-minded lawyer, Christie partners with her clients to help them achieve their development, management, and operational goals through the formation and implementation of strategic business objectives. She often works as an extension of her clients’ leadership teams, advising on a full range of legal issues.

Christie represents hotel operators, private equity funds, real estate investment trusts (REITs), publicly held corporations, and real estate developers on transactions involving the acquisition, financing, disposition, franchising, leasing, and management of  hotels, resorts, restaurants, branded residences and special event facilities. She also counsels clients in structuring investments in hospitality properties.

Christie truly has a global practice and represents both US and non-US based clients. With multiple development deals throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, she is well known as the go-to in the industry for luxury and boutique lifestyle hotels and residences. She has particular expertise in dealing with complex multi-use projects that contain hospitality components.

Prior to joining the firm, Christie was senior vice president and associate general counsel of Morgans Hotel Group, a boutique hotel operator headquartered in New York. While at Morgans, she was responsible for all hotel development matters, and also had primary legal responsibility for creating Morgans hotel franchise program.

Notable Matters

  • Represented a hotel operator in connection with its agreement with the Port Authority of NY and NJ and LaGuardia Gateway Partners to manage the Central Hall at the transformed, $8 billion LaGuardia Airport.
  • Represented a luxury hotel operator in the management of a mixed-use property located in West Palm Beach, Florida, consisting of a hotel, private club, residences, multiple restaurants, spa and fitness, event and ballroom space, and retail.
  • Represented a real estate development and investment firm in the management agreement for a convention center hotel. The deal is part of a large redevelopment plan by the city and is partially funded by a number of tax credits and public incentive financings.
  • Represented a leading international real estate investor in the negotiation of a food and beverage management agreement for a restaurant, club, event space, and in-room dining at a hotel in New York City on behalf of the hotel owner.
  • Regularly represent a global hospitality company in connection with a wide range of hotel development matters for properties worldwide.
  • Represented German luxury hotel brand in its first management agreement in the United States.
