Summary

Blake advises municipalities, public entities, and private employers on complex local-government, employment, and litigation matters. A former federal law clerk with extensive public-sector experience, he serves as county attorney and counsel to a county drainage board and represents cities, towns, counties, and their officials throughout Indiana.

Blake’s municipal practice is informed by service within local government. He previously served as city attorney and town attorney, roles that provided firsthand experience with the legal, operational, and policy issues facing local governments. He advises and represents public entities in matters involving statutory compliance, infrastructure and drainage issues, municipal governance, personnel matters, and the day-to-day administration of local government.

Blake also represents employers and governmental entities in state and federal employment litigation involving restrictive covenants, discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, and related workplace claims. His work includes preventive counseling, internal investigations, alternative dispute resolution, discovery, trial, and appeal. He has represented clients in employment matters with national scope before courts and agencies across the country.

A native of Kokomo, Indiana, Blake earned his B.S. from Indiana University in 1989 and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1994. While in law school, he was a member of the Brandeis Honor Society and the law journal. Before joining the firm, Blake clerked for two years for the Honorable Larry J. McKinney, then Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

Blake has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Litigation—Labor and Employment and has been named an Indiana Super Lawyers honoree for Employment and Labor. He has authored numerous articles and regularly presents on employment-law topics.
