Summary
Austin is an attorney in Taft’s Cleveland office. His practice focuses on labor and employment litigation, commercial litigation, employment counseling, and investigations.
Austin’s labor and employment practice centers on defending employers in federal and state courts and administrative agencies. He also represents employers with unionized workforces in labor arbitrations and collective bargaining negotiations. In addition to litigation, he advises clients on employee hiring and termination, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and workplace policies, helping them mitigate risk and navigate complex regulatory requirements.
He also maintains a general litigation practice. Before joining Taft, Austin was a litigation associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he worked on complex commercial, antitrust, and products liability disputes. At Taft, Austin handles litigation involving business tort, defamation, and breach-of-contract claims.
Austin served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Bridget Meehan Brennan of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, joining her chambers when she took the bench in 2022.
He earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif, and his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in sociology and political science from The College of Wooster.
