Six Attorneys Join Taft’s Indianapolis Office

Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP is pleased to announce that six attorneys have joined the firm’s Indianapolis office.

Tristan Fretwell is an associate in Taft’s Litigation group and focuses his practice on a wide variety of commercial and general litigation matters. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2018 where he served as the editor-in-chief of the Indiana Journal of Law & Social Equality, Volume 6, and was a quarterfinalist in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, receiving Brief Writing and Oral Advocacy Honors. Fretwell received a B.A., magna cum laude, in social work from Asbury University in 2009 and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2012. Prior to joining Taft as an associate, he was a summer law clerk with the firm and a legal intern for Indiana University’s Student Legal Services, IU Maurer School of Law Community Legal Clinic, and the Office of General Counsel, Department of Child Services in Indiana.

Kristine Gordon is an associate in the firm’s Environmental group and focuses her practice on a wide variety of environmental matters. She graduated from Valparaiso University, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in English and Humanities. Gordon earned a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School, magna cum laude, where she was the executive productions editor of the Journal of International and Comparative Law. Prior to joining Taft as an associate, Gordon was a summer law clerk with Taft and was a judicial law clerk for the St. Joseph County Superior Court.

John Huldin is an associate in Taft’s Environmental Group. He focuses his practice on a wide variety of environmental matters including insurance cost recovery, environmental regulation, and environmental litigation. He received a B.A. in political science from Rhodes College in 2012. In 2011, Huldin attended Georgetown University and received a certificate in Business and Government Affairs. He earned a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2018 where he was editor-in-chief of The Journal of Corporation Law. Prior to joining Taft as an associate, Huldin was a summer law clerk with the firm and a legal intern for the U.S. Navy in the Region Legal Service Office – Midwest. Prior to attending law school, he spent three years working as a fundraiser and political consultant.

Michael Myers is an associate in the firm’s Business and Finance group, focusing his practice on business and financial aspects of the law. He earned his B.S. in finance and international business, with high distinction, from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Myers was a direct admit to the Indiana University Maurer School of Law where he graduated cum laude. Prior to joining Taft as an associate, Myers was a summer law clerk with the firm.

Sergio Rey-Silva is an associate in Taft’s Litigation group and focuses his practice on municipal and commercial litigation. He graduated cum laude from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2018 where he was vice president of the Hispanic Law Society. During law school, he was an extern at the Eli Lilly & Co. Global Tax Department researching Treasury Regulation §1-482 case law—and the executive editor of the Indiana Health Law Review. Prior to joining Taft as an associate, Rey-Silva was a summer law clerk with the firm supporting the patent litigation team.

Seth Smoker is a staff attorney in the firm’s Litigation group. He focuses on FCPA and third party due diligence, including conducting screenings of potential third parties for corporate clients and investigating any red flags that come up during the screening process. Smoker received a B.A. in International Relations and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Indianapolis in 2011. He received a J.D. from Indiana University McKinney School of Law in 2018 where he was involved with the Business and Law and Labor and Employment Societies as well as the Protective Order Project. Prior to joining Taft as a staff attorney, Smoker was a legal intern with the firm.
