McGrady and Wright Named to 2020 WTR 1000

Taft intellectual property partners Paul McGrady and Amy Wright have been named to the 2020 edition of World Trademark Review 1000: The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals, an annual list of the world’s top trademark firms and practitioners published by World Trademark Review magazine.

McGrady has been ranked by the World Trademark Review (WTR) for many years and has received a gold ranking in Illinois in both the enforcement and litigation category and the prosecution and strategy category.  He is also one of the few practitioners ranked nationally for his domain name/ICANN practice. WTR praised McGrady for his “unbelievably high-level understanding of internet and trademark issues as they intersect.”  Wright has been awarded a gold ranking in Indiana and is lauded for her “well-organised and highly specialised local team which produces first-rate legal work.” WTR researchers also note, “When you think of trademarks in Indianapolis, Taft comes first to mind.” As a firm, Taft received a silver ranking in Indiana and a bronze ranking in Illinois. McGrady represents large brands and small and medium-sized enterprises in the United States and around the world, providing legal expertise in the adoption, licensing, prosecution and enforcement of trademarks. He has a global reputation in matters related to domain name disputes, domain name transactions, ICANN policy development, the creation of top-level domain names, online copyright and brand identity disputes, and transactions and counseling related to intellectual property aspects of social and mobile media.

Wright focuses her practice on trademark, copyright and right of publicity law in the context of aggressively pursuing infringing entities on behalf of her clients, as well as managing global IP portfolios. She has been successful in complex litigation, negotiations and settling a variety of IP infringements on behalf of her clients, which include large consumer products firms as well as the entertainment industry.

The WTR 1000 is the only standalone publication that focuses exclusively on trademark practices and practitioners, and identifies the leading players in more than 80 key jurisdictions. WTR undertakes exhaustive qualitative research, using factors such as depth of experience and market presence, alongside peer and client feedback, to identify the top firms.
