Mitch leverages his diverse tax experience as a former IRS Chief Counsel attorney and Big Four tax accountant to provide clients with holistic, practical tax advice. He regularly serves as tax counsel in M&A transactions, with a focus on representing underwriters placing representations and warranties insurance. Mitch also works with publicly and privately held real estate investment trusts (REITs) and tax insurance underwriters, advising on strategic transactions where REIT compliance is paramount. As part of his work with Taft’s Transactional Risk practice group, Mitch advises tax underwriters in placing bespoke tax insurance products for a variety of specialty transactions involving U.S. federal income tax risks, including unique M&A tax issues, REIT M&A, and investment tax credit monetization transactions.
