Mitch Tanner

Mitch focuses his practice on complex litigation, specifically product liability and business litigation. He has experience in national defense strategy coordination, mass tort cases, personal injury product defense, and other product liability cases. He also frequently represents companies, shareholders, fiduciaries, and individuals in disputes involving business governance, contract claims, shareholder relationships, and fiduciary duty issues. He handles all phases of litigation, including risk assessment and avoidance, pre-suit strategy, discovery, briefing, all the way through trial.

In addition to his primary litigation practice, Mitch frequently advises small and closely held businesses, providing practical guidance on corporate governance, business operations, risk management, and dispute avoidance. His litigation experience allows him to advise clients with an eye toward preventing and resolving issues before they develop into costly disputes.

Before joining Taft, Mitch served as a law clerk to the Hon. Jane Magnus-Stinson, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

Mitch earned his undergraduate degree from DePauw University and his juris doctor, magna cum laude, from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Indiana Law Review.
