Summary
Lauren advises ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, entrepreneurs, and business executives on sophisticated estate and wealth preservation matters. Lauren develops tailored strategies to minimize income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer taxes while balancing her clients’ personal, family, business, and philanthropic objectives. She works closely with family offices, accountants, in-house counsel, and other advisors to align complex planning structures with her clients’ unique personal and financial circumstances.
Lauren has significant experience designing and implementing complex planning techniques involving dynasty and directed trusts, family investment vehicles, leveraged sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, life insurance trusts, and asset protection trusts. Lauren also regularly utilizes advanced trust modification techniques, including decanting and nonjudicial settlement agreements, to modernize existing trusts, address changed circumstances, and migrate trusts to reduce or eliminate state income tax exposure. Lauren is particularly skilled at navigating the complexities of modifying trusts that are grandfathered or otherwise exempt from generation-skipping transfer tax.
Additionally, Lauren advises clients with respect to business succession planning and charitable and philanthropic matters, including the formation and administration of private foundations and charitable trusts.
