Summary

Kristin Stastny is a member of the Energy practice group and practices primarily in the areas of:

  • Public utility regulation
  • Energy industry regulation and commercial transactions
  • Administrative law and procedure
  • Environmental litigation and compliance

Kristin appears regularly before the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission on behalf of natural gas and electric utility clients on both routine and disputed matters and has substantial experience working with representatives from Minnesota’s regulatory agencies.  Kristin also routinely represents utility clients in contested case proceedings before the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings.  

Prior to joining Briggs, Kristin practiced in the environmental, regulatory, and energy group at a large firm in Minneapolis. She has extensive background in ratemaking and regulatory law affecting public utilities and has a particularly strong knowledge of the natural gas utility business. 

Kristin’s work has included representing utilities in rate case proceedings; obtaining approval for property acquisitions, affiliated interest agreements, rate riders, tariff modifications, large infrastructure projects, conservation improvement plans, and other regulatory filings; assisting clients with environmental due diligence; and counseling clients on various regulatory compliance, permitting, and risk management issues related to federal and state environmental, energy, health, and safety regulations.
