Summary

Ioana focuses her practice on commercial litigation matters, including breach of fiduciary duty cases, breach of contract cases, shareholder disputes, fraud, defamation, tortious interference, employment discrimination, class action defense, and civil rights litigation. She has guided her clients in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, at both the trial and appellate levels.

Prior to joining Taft, she was a law clerk for Justice John B. Simon in the Illinois Appellate Court, First District. Ioana also served as a staff attorney in the Office of the Chief Judge, Circuit Court of Cook County, Criminal Law Division and as a judicial extern for The Honorable Margaret M. Brennan, Circuit Court of Cook County, and The Honorable Charles R. Norgle, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Ioana received her J.D., magna cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School, where she was a member of The John Marshall Law Review. She also participated in moot court and received CALI Awards for Contracts I, Property, Constitutional Law I, Civil Procedure, and Professional Responsibility.

Ioana is fluent in Romanian and speaks conversational Spanish and French.
