Summary

Cris, an associate in Taft’s Denver office, guides FinTech clients through an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. His practice spans all areas of FinTech, including traditional financial services, mergers and acquisitions, electronic payments, cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies, and securities regulation.

With a focus on federal and state regulatory frameworks, Cris helps clients navigate complex legal requirements while developing, expanding, and acquiring innovative financial products. He also advises clients on regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters, including those before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Cris earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He gained corporate and financial regulatory experience as a legal intern for a large financial services company and served as a contract administrator for DU’s Financial Services office. Cris also externed with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office in the Business and Licensing Division and with judges on both the Colorado Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, experiences that strengthened his understanding of the intersection between business, regulation, and the law.

By combining regulatory insight with a forward-thinking approach, Cris helps FinTech companies navigate complexity and seize opportunities for growth.
