Summary

Ben is a senior director of public affairs in Taft’s Public Affairs Strategies Group. He joined Taft following nearly two decades serving as a trusted fiscal policy advisor to the elected leadership of the Indiana House of Representatives. During his tenure with the House, Ben played a central role in crafting many landmark fiscal policy initiatives, including major state and local tax policy reforms, the creation of innovative economic development incentives, and the successful effort to create a long-term road funding plan in 2017. Ben was also the lead legislative staffer responsible for the development of eight state biennial budgets, including the most recent $46 billion state budget enacted in April 2025.

Ben spent over ten years as the Director of Fiscal Policy for the majority caucus of the Indiana House of Representatives, serving under the leadership of former Speaker Brian Bosma and the current Speaker of the House, Todd Huston. Over the years, Ben worked closely with four different Ways and Means Committee chairmen, including the current chair of the committee, Representative Jeff Thompson, and developed strong working relationships with senior leaders and agency heads in four different gubernatorial administrations. Prior to serving as Director of Fiscal Policy, Ben was a fiscal analyst in the House Ways and Means Office and worked as a budget analyst for the Daniels Administration. Ben got his start in state government in 2006 as the inaugural Lawrence M. Borst Fellow in Public Finance.

Ben has spent years guiding state leaders through difficult policy challenges and forging partnerships between stakeholders in the legislature, the executive branch, local government, various membership associations, and business leaders. He looks forward to utilizing that experience to find solutions to complicated problems on behalf of his clients.
