Summary

Ashley Hummel is an associate in Taft’s business group, primarily focusing her practice on mergers and acquisitions, representing private equity sponsors, their portfolio companies, and privately-held companies throughout the acquisition process. Ashley counsels both buyers and sellers on all aspects of the M&A process, including due diligence, deal structures, negotiations, and documentation, from letter of intent stage through closing. Ashley also collaborates with founders, investors, and businesses of all sizes on general corporate governance and day-to-day legal matters. Ashley is proud to serve as a member of Taft’s Pro Bono Committee, which helps to connect Taft attorneys with pro bono work in each of Taft’s markets. During her time as a Pro Bono Committee member, Ashley has provided pro bono services to Veterans in collaboration with the National Veteran’s Legal Services Program.

Prior to joining Taft, Ashley served as a summer associate at Taft’s Cleveland office. She also volunteered with Case Western Reserve University School of Law’s Street Law program, which educates detained juveniles in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center about the legal system in efforts to reduce recidivism.

Ashley earned her J.D., cum laude, from Case Western University School of Law in 2021, where she received the Hugo Grotius International Law Scholarship.

She received a B.A., summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University in 2017, majoring in criminology and Spanish.

  • Counsel to Evantic, a portfolio company of Edgewater Capital Partners, in connection with its add-on acquisition of Plastic Distributors and Fabricators, LLC (PDF). PDF is a manufacturer and fabricator of high-precision, difficult to machine plastic components.
  • Counsel to Edgewater Capital Partners in its acquisition of NeoGraf Solutions, LLC, an industry-leading designer, formulator, and manufacturer of specialty natural graphite products.
  • Counsel to Retail Ecommerce Ventures LLC (REV) in connection with its strategic investment in Tuesday Morning Corporation. REV is the owner of a diverse portfolio of consumer brands that includes Pier 1 Imports, Dressbarn, RadioShack, Linens ‘n Things, Stein Mart, and Modell’s Sporting Goods. Tuesday Morning is a leading off-price retailer of home goods and décor.
