As Taft’s CPA & Specialty Tax Advisor, Alexis guides multinational enterprises on a broad range of complex international tax matters, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, post-acquisition integration, supply chain structuring, IP migration, global treasury and cross-border financing, foreign tax credit planning, treaty analysis, tax controversy, and global audit defense coordination. Alexis also advises clients on OECD Pillar Two and evolving global tax reform initiatives.
Alexis Bergman is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Illinois and holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation, conferred with honors, from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, with most LL.M. coursework completed at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. Alexis also holds a Certificate in International Taxation from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, a Master of Science in Taxation (M.S.T.) from DePaul University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting from Loyola University Chicago.
Alexis serves as an Executive Board Member and Secretary of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) USA Branch and as Co-Regional Vice President of the Midwest Region. Alexis is also a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS). Alexis is also actively involved in advancing women and early-career professionals through leadership roles with IFA WIN and YIN. Alexis is recognized as a Leading Woman in Tax by International Tax Review in 2017.
