Verhalen and Rojas to Present at NSPECon26

Taft Minneapolis partner Kodi Verhalen and associate Spencer Rojas will present “Emerging Issues in Professional Engineering Ethics,” at NSPECon26 on Thursday, Aug. 6. Their session, designed to provide clear and actionable guidance for engineers, students, and educators, will examine critical ethical challenges that engineers may encounter and provide a framework for making ethical decisions.

Verhalen is a partner in Taft’s Energy practice group, focusing on electric and natural gas regulatory matters. Verhalen has represented public utilities, independent power producers, transmission owners, private equity firms, and competitive retail suppliers in administrative proceedings before public utilities commissions, including those involving transmission line and generating facility siting, utility rate cases, natural gas pipeline siting, and ownership changes. She also advises on regulated and non-regulated transactional and financing matters. Beyond energy, Verhalen counsels clients on environmental issues such as audits, carbon strategy, M&A, insurance underwriting, Proposition 65 compliance, and property remediation.

As a member of the Energy group, Rojas represents utilities, developers, contractors, and end-use customers nationwide in energy- and construction- related transactions. Before joining Taft, Rojas externed for the Hon. Kate M. Menendez, United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
