Verhalen and Rojas to Present at NSPECon26
Taft Minneapolis partner Kodi Verhalen and associate Spencer Rojas will present “Emerging Issues in Professional Engineering Ethics,” at NSPECon26 on Thursday, Aug. 6. Their session, designed to provide clear and actionable guidance for engineers, students, and educators, will examine critical ethical challenges that engineers may encounter and provide a framework for making ethical decisions.

Verhalen is a partner in Taft’s Energy practice group, focusing on electric and natural gas regulatory matters. Verhalen has represented public utilities, independent power producers, transmission owners, private equity firms, and competitive retail suppliers in administrative proceedings before public utilities commissions. She also advises on regulated and non-regulated transactional and financing matters. Beyond energy, Verhalen counsels clients on environmental issues such as audits, carbon strategy, M&A, insurance underwriting, and property remediation. In both her energy and environmental work, Kodi often draws upon her technical understanding gained during her experience as a professional engineer (Minnesota). From 2016 – 2017, Kodi served as president of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Rojas is an associate in the Taft’s Energy group. His practice includes a variety of permitting energy infrastructure, ratemaking proceedings, and power purchase agreements for renewable energy projects, such as solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems for public utilities, transmission owners, and private equity firms. He has also represented these entities on regulated and non-regulated transactional matters. In addition to his energy-related work, Rojas represents telecommunications companies on regulatory compliance matters.
