Taft Offers New Family-Centered Services
Taft announced that it now offers attorneys, as a paid benefit, access to Care@Work, an emergency childcare service, and Milk Stork, an overnight breast milk delivery program. The introduction of these family-centered paid benefits will support an overall productive work-life balance and help eliminate the stress of travel for new mothers.
Care@Work, an emergency family care service that helps find caregivers for the whole family, will be available to all attorneys and benefits-eligible employees. Taft attorneys will have 24/7 access to Care.com’s website and mobile app for when they are in need of a last-minute caregiver for in-home or in-center childcare, or in-home adult care.
“Through the implementation of the Care@Work backup care program, Taft recognizes the importance of balancing personal and professional demands and demonstrates its continued commitment to being the employer of choice for attorneys.” said Brandi Weekley, Taft Associate who lead efforts to introduce Care@Work on behalf of the Gender Advancement Committee.
Milk Stork, a service that provides overnight breast milk delivery, will allow breast-feeding attorneys to plan their business trips more efficiently. With the help of Milk Stork, Taft will reimburse all expenses related to traveling with breast milk for breast-feeding attorneys.
“Returning to work with a newborn at home is a difficult process, full of compromises and tradeoffs. Family-centered benefits like Milk Stork and Care@Work help support a healthy work-life balance and allow our attorneys to feel supported as they transition back to the office after a leave.” said Taft’s Gender Advancement Co-Chair and Partner Sonya Jindal.
By introducing these new family-centered services as paid benefits, Taft demonstrates its commitment to maintaining a productive work-life balance.
“We are one group, collectively working to provide exceptional client service and to create the best law firm we can. By providing access to services like Care@Work and Milk Stork we are taking a major step toward achieving that goal,” said Taft Partner and Executive Committee member James Zimmerman.
Taft undertook several new initiatives in 2017 to achieve its goal of becoming an employer of choice in each of its markets. Notable accomplishments in 2017 included: offering an industry-leading, gender-neutral, 16-week paid parental leave; creating a Gender Advancement Committee and hosting the firm’s inaugural Women’s Symposium; and launching a Diversity Fellowship Program; and being recognized as the highest ranked new entrant on the NLJ 500.
