Taft Chicago Adds to Intellectual Property and Real Estate Practices

Taft Stettinius & Hollister is pleased to announce that Marcus S. Harris and Jason A. Robin have joined the firm’s Chicago office in the Intellectual Property and Real Estate practices, respectively.

Harris has established one of the country’s leading practices devoted to drafting and negotiating Enterprise Software related license, implementation and SaaS agreements, as well as litigating failed software implementations in courts and before arbitration panels across the country. As an IP lawyer, he has developed and managed international trademark and patent portfolios, managed intellectual property litigation, conducted IP due diligence and reviewed advertising material to verify compliance with legal requirements. Harris also has extensive experience dealing with cybersecurity issues. He advises clients on complying with the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDRP) being implemented and enforced by the European Union.

Harris has significant legal and related business experience in the technology industry. Prior to entering private practice, he was senior corporate counsel in charge of intellectual property in the Legal/Contracts Department of SAP America and at SSA Global Technologies (now Infor). Harris received his J.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law and his B.A. from the University of New Mexico. He is a frequent speaker on emerging issues in technology and is interviewed regularly by the media.

Robin represents clients in the acquisition, disposition and leasing of commercial real estate. He also has extensive experience representing lenders in the documentation and negotiation of construction loans and the restructuring of troubled loans. Robin received his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, his M.S. from Roosevelt University and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
