Stovall Presents at 44th Annual Real Estate Symposium
Taft partner Cyndi Stovall recently presented at the 44th Annual Colorado Real Estate Symposium: True Detective – Dirt Lawyers Edition, regarding the proliferation and efforts to mitigate real property title fraud.
Deed and mortgage fraud is on the rise, with FBI-reported losses growing from approximately $145 million in 2023 to $275 million in 2025. Fraudsters increasingly use AI to forge signatures and fraudulent documents to transfer or encumber property, often leaving owners with significant financial and legal consequences. In response, government officials and the Uniform Law Commission are advancing new measures, including the proposed Uniform Deed Fraud Act, to strengthen protections against real estate title fraud.
Stovall’s presentation “The Deed Deception: Solving Real Estate Title Fraud” covered the issues and efforts to redress them. It was be held on July 9, 2026, in Vail, Colorado at The Hythe Vail.
