Pierce Tucker Featured on Columbus Channel 10 News as First Black Female Lawyer for a Minor League Baseball Team

Taft Columbus partner in charge, Janica Pierce Tucker, was featured on a local Columbus news station for her appointment as general counsel for the Columbus Clippers, breaking minor league baseball history.

Appointed in January 2021 to serve as chief counsel for the Franklin County Parks and Recreation Board, Franklin County Stadium Inc., and the Columbus Clippers, Pierce Tucker is the first African-American female to serve as top legal counsel for any Triple-A professional baseball organization in the modern history of the league.

Active in the community, Pierce Tucker has been recognized by her peers on numerous occasions. She is a 2018 fellow for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and is listed in Ohio Super Lawyers for employment and labor law. In addition to her role as Partner-in Charge of the Columbus office, she also serves as a member of Taft’s Executive Committee and co-chair of Taft’s firm wide Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
