Morgan and Canny Recognized as 2021 Leadership in Law Honorees

Taft is pleased to announce that Donald Morgan and Cathy Canny have been selected as 2021 Leadership in Law honorees by The Indiana Lawyer. Morgan has been named an Up and Coming Lawyer and Canny has been named a Legal Support Star. Both were recognized at an awards event on Nov. 9 and are featured in a special Leadership in Law issue here. (subscription required).

The Indiana Lawyer annually honors Indiana attorneys and professionals who make meaningful contributions not only to the legal profession but to their communities and beyond. The Up and Coming Lawyer and Legal Support Star Awards honor such members of the legal community.

Morgan is a member of Taft’s appellate practice and public law team. He has extensive experience advising elected officials and practicing at all levels of the federal and Indiana judicial systems, including work on appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Indiana Supreme Court. He serves on the board of governors for the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association’s board of directors, and the Section 1983 subcommittee of the Seventh Circuit’s Committee on Pattern Civil Jury Instructions. Prior to joining Taft, he served as corporation counsel and chief litigation counsel for the City of Indianapolis and Marion County.

Canny is a paralegal in Taft’s Litigation group. She has more than 40 years or experience with large and complex litigation cases. Canny has been an Indiana Registered Paralegal (IRP) since 2015 and frequently presents on litigation, leadership, technology, ethics, regulation, and other issues relating to the paralegal profession. She was recognized by the Indiana Paralegal Association with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
