Firm Wins Appeal Over $20 Million Claim Involving Natalie Portman-Led Film
Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeals upheld the dismissal of a nearly $20 million claim brought by Boies Schiller Film Group (which includes prominent litigator David Boies) against firm clients Impala Partners and its principal, Peter Nathanial, in connection with the financing of the 2015 film “Jane Got a Gun.”
The plaintiffs alleged they were misled into funding the Natalie Portman-led film. The film underperformed at the box office, and the plaintiffs sought damages on fraud and negligent misrepresentation claims.
The court ruled that there was no written evidence proving that the defendants had made any fraudulent or negligent misrepresentations, and third-party witnesses did not have clear recollections of the facts.
