Eklund Shares Insights on Colorado Water Plan with Colorado Sun
Taft Water and Natural Resources partner James Eklund was quoted in the Colorado Sun article “Colorado has spent $389M to fund its far-reaching water plans in the past two years.”
The article discusses the Colorado Water Conservation Board’s (CWCB) update on its implementation of a plan to fund programs to prevent future water shortages.
Eklund was the architect of Colorado’s Water Plan, which he also oversaw during his tenure as director of the CWCB. The first version was completed in 2015, and it has been successfully implemented and updated several times since then.
In the article, Eklund considers that the update indicates that CWCB is making progress with the current plan. Eklund goes on to say that their second water plan is missing “measurable objectives” and that makes it “harder to assess whether we are closing the gap or not.”
