Cory Kalanick has been named to the Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, which celebrates young professionals for their success in business and community service.

A public finance attorney, Kalanick works with government entities to finance vital public infrastructure and affordable housing projects. In the past five years, he’s been part of more than 75 multi-family housing and other board transactions for the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority totaling nearly $1.2 billion, resulting in over 5,700 new or preserved affordable housing units for families, seniors, veterans, at-risk youth, and homeless populations in Colorado.

Kalanick serves as general counsel to the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority and the recently formed Middle Income Housing Authority, which will work toward funding housing for essential workers such as nurses, teachers, and firefighters, who do not qualify for housing subsidies, but who are otherwise priced out of Colorado’s rising rents.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to expand housing and educational opportunities throughout Colorado every day as a public finance attorney – it’s truly a ‘feel-good’ practice of law,” he said.

Kalanick is a charismatic leader at Sherman and Howard, advocating for his peers in the workplace and finding solutions to complex public financing issues for his clients. He serves as the Associate Coordinator at the law firm. Recently, he began lecturing as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, helping shape the future of public finance attorneys.

He is a graduate of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Impact Denver program. He recently served two terms as the Board Treasurer for the Downtown Denver Expeditionary School, which provides families and parents who work downtown with an option for their children’s school by utilizing the “city as campus.”
