PROGRAM

Hot Topics and Recent Developments

In this session, Blake Burgan will speak on a selection of hot topics and recent developments in labor and employment law. Blake will discuss recent federal decisions involving claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family Medical Leave Act. Mr. Burgan will also address how these recent decisions impact your company.

Preventing Indiana Wage Claims

Hannah Meils will discuss employer obligations under Indiana’s wage payment laws. Understanding these obligations is critical because even unintentional or seemingly small mistakes can prove costly to employers. Hannah will address the types of payments to employees that are covered under the law, what is required of employers under the law, the most common mistakes made by employers in administering payments to employees, and how to prevent these potentially costly mistakes.

Health Care Reform

Stephen Riga will discuss recent federal legislation implementing COBRA subsidies and introducing new HIPAA privacy rules. Stephen will also examine state and local efforts to mandate employer health coverage, and look at the new administration’s plans to change the health care industry.

Please join us for a comprehensive presentation addressing these issues.
