Taft Receives Community Impact Award

Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP received one of United Way of Central Indiana’s Community Impact Awards at the organization’s annual meeting on June 5. The award recognizes corporate partners that go above and beyond and make a positive impact on the community.

Since 2011, Taft has donated more than $1 million to Ralph Waldo Emerson School (IPS 58) through its partnership with United Way. The funds support an after school program as well as other initiatives to support and increase academic achievement.

In addition to its ongoing partnership with IPS 58, Taft is committed to sponsoring life-changing microgrants through the Centers for Working Families (CWF), a United Way of Central Indiana effort designed to help families increase their financial stability. The Breaking Barriers Grant Program, powered by Taft, helps put Central Indiana’s most vulnerable neighbors on the path to financial stability by funding grant applications for specific needs. To date, Taft has funded 23 grants to help with continuing education, transportation, debt relief and housing needs.

“We are grateful for our partnership with Taft and their generosity in underwriting the Breaking Barriers Grant Program,” said Ann D. Murtlow, president and CEO of United Way of Central Indiana. “Through programs like this, United Way can help eliminate roadblocks families sometimes meet as they work toward self-sufficiency.”
