Taft Expands New York Office with Capital Markets and Strategic Advisory Partners

Taft, one of the nation’s fastest-growing law firms, has added Anthony J. Marsico and Justin E. Klein as partners in its New York office, expanding the firm’s Capital Markets and Strategic Advisory capabilities. Marsico and Klein are among four lawyers who joined Taft’s New York office this month, along with associates Marina Berardino in the Litigation practice and Mariana Veiga in the Energy practice.

Marsico brings more than 30 years of experience advising financial institutions, investment banks, underwriters, broker-dealers, private equity and hedge funds, family offices, and other private investors, as well as publicly traded and privately held companies, on capital markets, securities, and corporate finance matters.  In that regard, he handles the full spectrum of equity and debt capital markets transactions, from IPOs and follow-on offerings to PIPEs, structured investments, and cross-border securities offerings, including U.S.-Canadian dual-listed transactions.

Klein represents privately held and public companies, business owners, executives, investors, and boards in connection with complex and sensitive business decisions, transactions, governance issues, fiduciary matters, commercial arrangements, and disputes. He also advises family offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and principals on matters involving closely held businesses, private investments, and significant commercial relations. Drawing on decades of experience, he serves as a trusted advisor on high-stakes business and investment matters, helping clients navigate risk and protect their long-term interests.

“Anthony and Justin are excellent additions that deepen our business bench and give our clients a go-to for comprehensive legal services in New York and across our platform,” said Ralph Caruso, Taft Partner and Business Practice Group Chair. “As we continue to grow our New York office and national reach, their practices will open new opportunities for the clients we already serve and help us expand our offerings to future clients.”

“Taft’s continued investment in its business practice made this an ideal fit,” said Marsico. “The firm’s collaborative culture and national platform will allow me to deliver more for my clients. I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues and contributing to the practice’s growth.”

“Taft’s momentum and national reach create exciting opportunities to expand my practice and bring additional capabilities to my clients,” said Klein. “I am excited to work with the team to continue building the firm’s presence in New York.”

Marsico joins Taft from Reed Smith, where he was a partner in the firm’s Global Corporate Group. Klein joins from Benesch.

Marsico and Klein are the latest additions to Taft’s growing New York office, which launched in April with an energy, infrastructure, and project finance team from Steptoe LLP. In May, former Southern District of New York federal prosecutor Jamie Nawaday joined as a partner in the Compliance, Investigations, and White Collar Defense practice. This momentum is part of Taft’s plan to scale its New York presence to more than 100 lawyers over the next five years, consistent with its size in existing primary markets.

By combining strategic lateral hires with targeted geographic mergers, Taft has grown into one of the nation’s fastest-growing law firms today with more than 1,250 attorneys across 25 offices and revenues exceeding $1 billion.
