Taft Chicago Litigation Attorneys Author Article Published in The Circuit Rider
Taft Chicago attorneys J. Timothy Eaton, Elizabeth Babbitt, and Hudson Cross authored the article “Petitions for Rehearing in the Seventh Circuit,” published in the May 2023 issue of The Circuit Rider. The article discusses petitions for a panel rehearing or rehearing en banc filed after an unsuccessful result in the Seventh Circuit, which is subject to strict standards. The authors cover the requirements for filing post-opinion petitions and explain how the process works.
Eaton is a senior litigation partner in Taft’s Chicago office, concentrating his practice on appeals, commercial litigation, and arbitration. He has tried cases in both state and federal courts and before arbitration panels for over 40 years. Eaton is a past president of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and the Appellate Lawyers Association of Illinois.
Babbitt represents municipalities, corporations, and public utilities in complex litigation. She regularly advises clients in matters prior to the filing of the lawsuit and manages cases through trial and appeals. Babbitt also advises businesses regarding employment discrimination, unfair business practices, trade secrets, restrictive employment covenants, and civil rights violations.
Cross focuses his practice on various aspects of commercial litigation. He previously worked as a judicial extern for the Hon. Andrew Rodovich, Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, and as a legal extern in the Illinois Office of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor. Cross earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and his B.S. in Kinesiology from Indiana University – Bloomington.
