The Illinois League of Advocates for the Developmentally Disabled filed a motion Wednesday, May 22, 2013 to request a temporary restraining order against the movement of residents from the Warren G. Murray Developmental Center.
On Thursday, May 23, 2013, emergency Federal Judge Ruben Castillo ordered the State of Illinois to stop the transfers of any Murray Center residents until 10:30 a.m. May 30, when Judge Marvin Aspen returns to the case.
Taft (formerly Shefsky & Froelich) lead attorney Judy Sherwin presented on behalf of the Illinois League of Advocates for the Developmentally Disabled. She proved that the State is taking reckless action in the movement of the members, failing to inspect conditions and living arrangements amongst residents.
