Taft Adds Butler As Director of Public Affairs to Growing Public Affairs Strategies Group
Taft Law’s bipartisan and diverse federal and state Public Affairs Strategies Group (PASG) has added Malika Butler as director of public affairs. Butler joins Taft from the Indiana Manufacturers Association (IMA) where she served as assistant vice president of governmental affairs.
As Taft’s Director of Public Affairs, Butler will represent clients in a wide range of policy matters before state legislative and executive agencies, advocating their interests on government contracts, grant and incentive programs, and legislative and regulatory matters.
During her time at the IMA, Butler served on the organization’s leadership team and assisted in association management, government relations, and political engagement. She focused on issues relating to talent development, workforce training and education, economic development, and environmental regulation to advance the interests of the industrials sector. She will continue to represent the IMA during the 2021 legislative session and maintain her specialty on issues relating to talent development, workforce training and education, economic development, and environmental regulation to advance the interests of the industrials sector.
Further, she served as the manager of political affairs for the Indy Chamber, where she led its political action committee’s fundraising efforts and lobbied on issues impacting central Indiana’s business community before the Indiana General Assembly and the Indianapolis City-County Council. Butler’s past experience also includes service as a legislative assistant in the Republican caucus of the Indiana House of Representatives, where she provided policy assistance to three state representatives.
“Malika is a great addition to our public affairs team and her depth of experience and relationships working with state legislative and executive agencies will benefit Taft clients,” said Mark Shublak, co-chair of Taft’s PASG. “This is just one step in our strategic plan to hire more top public affairs practitioners in the coming months.”
Taft’s PASG is comprised of several accomplished and highly acclaimed attorneys and advocates who joined Taft in February 2021. The group is engaged in federal, state, and local legislative and executive branch lobbying and consulting, along with developing federal, state, and local legislative, executive branch, and other related strategies on behalf of Taft clients.
