Sheehan Authors “Building a Responsible GenAI Practice”
Taft Assistant General Counsel Cari Sheehan authored the article, “Building a Responsible GenAI Practice,” which was published in the October 2026 issue of Res Gestae, the Indiana State Bar Association’s publication. The article examines the growing use of generative AI in legal practice and discusses practical applications, as well as considerations for responsible use, including governance, cybersecurity, confidentiality and attorney oversight.
With more than 15 years of legal experience in civil litigation, conflicts of interest and professional responsibility, Sheehan serves as the firm’s Assistant General Counsel. In this role, she advises firm attorneys on ethics compliance, risk prevention and conflicts of interest. She also assists with the review and negotiation of outside counsel guidelines, conflict waivers, engagement letters and other matters with ethical implications, as well as providing ethics training and education to attorneys and staff.
