Taft, one of the fastest-growing law firms in the country, announced today that Beverly L. Perry, most recently the Senior Advisor to Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, is joining the firm as a partner to lead its new Government Resource and Response Group.

As Senior Advisor to Mayor Bowser in D.C. for the past 10 years, Perry oversaw policy initiatives through the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs, the Office of Federal and Regional Affairs, and the Office of the Secretary. Perry is recognized for her strategic leadership in both the public and private sectors in D.C. She recently played a lead role in securing federal land for the RFK Stadium redevelopment, helping spearhead the creation of a mixed-use district and an innovative, new 65,000-seat stadium that will return the NFL’s Washington Commanders to their historic home in 2030.

An accomplished attorney and public servant, Perry previously held executive leadership roles at Pepco Holdings, Inc., one of the Mid-Atlantic’s largest energy companies now owned by Exelon, acting as Senior Vice President and Special Advisor to the Chairman. She began her legal career litigating cases in federal and state courts and serving with the Department of the Interior.

After exploring a variety of opportunities across the private sector, Perry was drawn to the success of Taft’s growth strategy and the firm’s commitment to building a unique practice at the intersection of utility policy and operational expansion.

Throughout Perry’s career, she has been a leader and steward of various foundations and organizations, including the African American Civil War Memorial and Museum; the Greater Washington Urban League; the Arena Stage; the Congressional Black Caucus Institute; and the Federal Judicial Nomination Commission for the District of Columbia. In addition to her civic engagements, she holds a law degree from Georgetown University and an undergraduate degree from George Washington University.
