Rubin Named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly's 2020 “Women in the Law” List

Deborah Rubin has been recognized in Michigan Lawyers Weekly Women in the Law Class of 2020.

The annual Women in the Law award recognizes 30 lawyers who have made outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan, set an example for other lawyers and have demonstrated tremendous leadership. Rubin and the other Women of Law honorees will be celebrated at a virtual event on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m. and profiled in an upcoming edition of Michigan Lawyers Weekly

Rubin is a key member of the Insolvency & Reorganization practice group and plays a role in all matters involving bankruptcy law, including representation of creditors’ committees and corporate debtors in bankruptcy proceedings and commercial litigation. Working with all phases of litigation from inception through resolution, she provides strategic counsel and creative solutions in all types of bankruptcy, collection and insolvency matters.

Rubin has been invited to speak multiple times to national audiences on both consumer and corporate bankruptcy issues. She was recently appointed as the chair of the Commercial Law League of America’s bankruptcy section in recognition of her commitment to promote high standards in the practice of bankruptcy and insolvency law.  She has been a tireless advocate for bankruptcy venue reform, and was invited to join a small-yet prestigious ad hoc group of attorneys and judges from around the country seeking fair bankruptcy reform and leading lobbying efforts for legislative change.  Her work was instrumental in the introduction of H.R. 4421 in the U.S. House of Representatives, which if passed, would require a corporate bankruptcy debtor to file their case in the district where their principal assets or principal place of business is located.

In addition to Deborah’s work on venue reform, she is active in her community, including her role as a longtime supporter of Kids Kicking Cancer.
