Newsome’s Covid-19 Vaccination Article Published in CMBA Bar Journal

Allison Smith Newsome, associate in Taft’s Health Care and Life Sciences group, had an article published in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s Bar Journal called, “Don’t Take A Shot In The Dark: Legal Implications and Considerations of a Mandatory Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.”

Published on Feb. 23, 2021, Newsome’s article explains the daunting situation facing healthcare industry employers concerning whether or not to require mandatory employee vaccinations, and if so, how to create said policy. The quandary between the employer’s authority versus the personal freedoms of employees is examined in the article, in addition to the additional complexities due to employee exemptions for religious and medical accommodations.

Newsome focuses her practice on the representation of hospitals, physician groups, and other health care organizations regarding the regulatory, transactional, and business aspects of health care law.
