Manderscheid and Carlson Present at Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers Conference
On Sept. 28, 2021, Taft Minneapolis partners Marc Manderscheid and Andy Carlson were featured presenters at the 75th Annual Conference of the Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers (MAAO). Manderscheid and Carlson gave six different presentations, totaling three hours, about Minnesota property tax law and litigation.
The mission of the MAAO is to provide education and information in property appraisal and assessment administration.
Manderscheid has been involved in many cases venued before the Minnesota Tax Court and the District Courts involving the valuation of commercial property for property tax purposes. He has worked extensively with appraisal experts in determining such issues as highest and best use, methods of valuation, depreciation, obsolescence and determining market value.
Carlson has represented Minnesota property owners, counties, banks, and utilities in tax litigation. He has extensive experience in property tax litigation, including several lengthy trials before the Minnesota Tax Court and in Minnesota District Court, as well as multiple proceedings before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Minnesota Supreme Court, concerning the valuation of utility property, large special purpose properties, and industrial facilities.
