Taft partner Melissa Macchia has been selected as the winner in the law category at the 2021 Indy’s Best and Brightest awards. She was recognized along with the other finalists at a virtual awards ceremony on March 11. The awards program was created by Junior Achievement of Central Indiana to recognize the next generation of leaders in our community. The event honors 100 of central Indiana’s most outstanding young professionals, age 40 and under, in 10 different industries.

Macchia is a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor Relations practice group and COVID-19 Evolving Workplace Task Force. She concentrates her practice in employment law, with a particular emphasis on prevention and defense of employment-based litigation. She regularly advises clients on employment-related issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, including terminations and temporary layoffs, the WARN Act, the paid leave provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act, medical accommodations, and employee safety and return-to-work best practices and policies. Macchia also provides training and guidance to executive-level and supervisory employees with respect to the prevention and management of COVID-19-related issues in the workplace.
