Taft Cleveland partners Jill Friedman Helfman and Brandi Weekley have been selected to Crain’s Cleveland Business’ Notable Women in Law 2026 list. Honorees are those who hold a leadership role in professional organizations and civic service initiatives, show significant impact in their role and/or practice area, serve as role models or mentors to other women in the legal industry, and work to advance inclusive practices in the workplace.

Helfman is co-partner-in-charge of Taft’s Cleveland office and a leading family law attorney concentrating on high net worth divorce and complex domestic relations matters. Her practice includes business valuation disputes, property division, support, and challenging custody cases for high-profile clients such as business owners, professional athletes, physicians, and lawyers. She is certified as a Family Law Specialist by the Ohio State Bar Association, is an AAML-trained matrimonial arbitrator, and is a fellow and past Ohio chapter president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Weekley is a mergers and acquisitions attorney whose practice centers on private equity and venture capital transactions for funds and emerging growth companies. Her experience includes structuring and closing complex early- and growth-stage financings, counseling on capital formation and private placements, and advising buyers and sellers on all aspects of M&A from diligence and deal structure through closing. She regularly works with physicians, professors, and researchers to commercialize university- and hospital-developed technologies and also advises clients on corporate organization, governance, and general corporate matters.
