Copp and Tragesser Named to Crain’s Notable Women Lawyer List

Taft is pleased to announce that Kim Copp and Kate Tragesser have been named to the Crain’s 2018 list of Chicago’s Most Notable Women Lawyers published by Crain’s Custom Media. The 150-lawyer list recognizes women who have shown the ability or power to effect change in their role and/or area of practice, serve as role models or mentors to other female attorneys, and hold leadership positions in professional organizations and community service initiatives. Copp is co-chair of Taft’s Gaming group and chair of the Debt and Structured Financings group. She focuses her practice principally in the areas of general corporate and securities law matters, including corporate and public finance. Copp also has extensive experience representing cities and states (including regulatory bodies) on casino gaming matters including drafting legislation and related regulations, negotiating host community agreements between local governmental units and casino developers, conducting competitive selection processes for casino opportunities, and negotiating and providing counsel on casino development projects.

Tragesser leads the Women, Minority and Veteran-Owned Businesses practice area at Taft and concentrates her practice on government procurement, government relations, land use and tax increment financing. She handles all aspects of the MBE/WBE/DBE/VBE certification. Tragesser helps her clients assess certification eligibility and provides strategic advice regarding best corporate practices. She also works on behalf of developers and corporations on land use and zoning matters before the Chicago City Council, the Chicago Plan Commission and the Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals.
