Battle Appointed to University of the District of Columbia Board of Trustees

Taft partner Marc Battle has been appointed to the University of the District of Columbia’s (UDC) Board of Trustees. He was confirmed by the Council of the District of Columbia on July 14 and will serve through May 15, 2030.

The 15-member Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the university, providing strategic oversight and advancing UDC’s mission as the District’s only public institution of higher education and the nation’s only exclusively urban land-grant university.

Battle is a partner in Taft’s Washington office with experience as a general counsel and executive leader in the utility and infrastructure sectors. As Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President of Government Affairs for DC Water, he oversaw all legal, regulatory, and policy matters for one of the nation’s leading regional utilities. He advised the board and executive management on governance and strategy, directed litigation and investigations, and advanced the organization’s legislative and regulatory priorities through lobbying efforts at the local, regional, and federal levels.
