Amarilio to Speak at Appellate Mediation CLE Program

 

Taft Chicago partner Jonathan Amarilio will join a distinguished panel of speakers for the CLE program, “How Appealing: Free CLE to Become an Appellate Mediator in the Second District Appellate Court’s Pilot Mediation Program,” on Oct. 15. Presented by the Appellate Lawyers Association of Illinois, the Appellate Court of Illinois, Second District, and Public Interest Law Initiative, the virtual program will prepare lawyer-mediators to facilitate appellate mediation and qualify to participate in the court’s pilot appellate mediation program.

The program will cover key differences between trial and appellate mediation, best practices for appellate mediation, relevant appellate rules and procedures, and the mechanics and goals of appellate mediation. Participants will earn 2.0 hours of MCLE credit through the Appellate Lawyers Association of Illinois.

Jonathan Amarilio is co-chair of Taft’s firmwide Appellate and Critical Motions practice. He represents individuals, businesses, and state and local governments in civil appellate litigation and critical-motion matters before state and federal appellate courts. In addition to his legal practice, Amarilio serves on several bar association and charitable boards and is a frequent author and speaker on a range of legal topics. He was recently elected Second Vice President of the Chicago Bar Association for the 2026-2027 bar year and will serve as CBA President for the 2028-2029 bar year.
